What Is Sacred Ground?
Life gives each of us plenty to carry—joy and sorrow, certainty and doubt, belonging and loneliness. Some things we understand; others we may never understand. The world’s complexities add to the weight, and avoiding reality doesn’t make it easier.
Sacred Ground offers another way.
It is a simple practice of slowing down, listening closely, speaking honestly, and being present with ourselves and one another. There is nothing to prove, no one to fix, and no need to agree. We make room for what is real and stay open to what unfolds.
Think of water clouded with silt. When the water becomes still, the silt may settle, allowing us to see more clearly. Sometimes it takes longer than we’d like. Either way, we can learn to be more at ease with what is happening, even before we know what to do.
Sometimes, being truly seen, heard, and accepted brings a shift we could never have planned or forced.
Sacred Ground invites us to discover that we can belong without having all the answers—and that, amid the messiness of being human, the ground beneath us may have been sacred all along.

Where Do We Go From Here?
Like any new practice, Sacred Ground takes guidance, experience, and repetition. Over the years, we’ve learned that understanding an idea is only the beginning. As the recovery community reminds us, we must move from head to heart. As we begin to change within, our actions follow.
The offerings below support that learning and practice:
Stories from Sacred Ground invite us to listen, reflect, and see our own experiences in new ways.
The Cohort Experience (ongoing learning groups) bring people together for guided conversation, shared practice, and learning from one another.
The Collective Experience (keynotes, workshops, and retreats) offer opportunities to explore Sacred Ground more deeply and put it into practice.
